Prof. Widodo Muktiyo menekankan pentingnya peningkatan kompetensi humas pemerintah dalam menghadapi masyarakat yang semakin kritis dan perkembangan informasi yang semakin cepat.
Di tengah dinamika informasi yang bergerak semakin cepat, profesi humas pemerintah menghadapi tantangan yang semakin kompleks. Menurut Prof. Widodo Muktiyo, diperlukan pengetahuan dan pola pikir yang lebih spesifik agar komunikasi pemerintah dapat tetap relevan dengan perubahan zaman.
Ia menilai humas pemerintah tidak cukup hanya mengandalkan pengalaman, tetapi juga perlu memperkuat kemampuan melalui pendidikan dan pembelajaran yang aplikatif, khususnya dalam bidang Government Public Relations (GPR).
“Tanpa belajar yang spesifik, kita kadang-kadang ketinggalan dengan perubahan zaman yang demikian cepat,” ujar Prof. Widodo.
Menurutnya, masyarakat saat ini semakin kritis dan cerdas. Karena itu, pemerintah membutuhkan strategi komunikasi yang mampu membangun pemahaman sekaligus memastikan program-program pemerintah dapat diterima dengan baik oleh masyarakat.
Prof. Widodo juga menekankan pentingnya link and match antara kompetensi humas dengan tantangan komunikasi publik. Pendidikan di bidang GPR diharapkan tidak hanya memberikan teori, tetapi juga dapat diterapkan langsung dalam pekerjaan.
Ia menambahkan, pengembangan kompetensi humas pemerintah juga perlu didukung dengan evaluasi terhadap kinerja komunikasi publik di tingkat kabupaten, kota, provinsi, hingga kementerian dan lembaga.
Dengan kemampuan yang terus dikembangkan, humas pemerintah diharapkan mampu menghadapi perubahan informasi sekaligus membangun komunikasi yang lebih efektif, responsif, dan sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat.
